Location : Tizounine, rural municipality of Tata province
These Gnaouas and their music embody a complex past of struggle and reconciliation. Through their percussions and haunting songs — in Arabic, Amazigh and Bambara — they pay homage to their ancestors and tell in their own words the history of slavery in Morocco. Living in the small commune of Tizounine, these songs of freedom have been sung here ever since their forefathers arrived generations ago.
