Within the halls of the Arts and Crafts School of Tetouan, generations of craftsmen have successively developed their mastery of woodwork and carpentry for over a century. These crafts and trades, such as woodworking and cabinetmaking, (ébénisterie), its most celebrated art, are the hallmark of this heralded institution and hold no remaining mysteries for one of its masters, Mohamed Ilyas Toub. An emeritus with the school, he is among the most bonafide alumni of the Tetouani school. As a professor who has mastered the ability to repeat perfectly the techniques of the craft’s forebearers, he has become a reliable shepherd for the new flocks of students who pass through the doors of the school, eager to carve out for themselves, a noble and prosperous future.
