Tagra is a popular unglazed tagine with small clay handles from the Rif Mountains; it normally does not have a lid. These tagines also come in an oval shape, ideal for cooking a whole fish. It’s typically made from the rich soil around the Oud Laou River, between the Rif Mountains and the MediterraneanI. The main difference between the Tagra and tha chalhaoui also known as the berber tajine, is that the former tajine comes with a deeper base while the later has a more rounded, dome-shaped lid, as opposed to a conical one.
